The Fourth Research Team Meeting for “Sustainable Packaging Solutions to Advance Ontario Towards A Circular Economy”, an ORF-RE09 project, took place on December 5th, 2022, at the OAC Centennial Arboretum Centre at the University of Guelph.
The event featured 2 keynote presentations, 4 oral trainee presentations, and 9 trainee poster presentations. There were 32 event attendees.
Dr. Manjusri Misra, Professor and CRC Tier I in Sustainable Biocomposites, School of Engineering, University of Guelph, welcomed the participants and speakers of the day.
Dr. Jean-Marie Raquez, Professor, Center for Innovation and Research in Materials and Polymers, Université de Mons, Mons, Belgium presented “Cellulose Nanocrystals as Renewable Nanofillers for the design of advanced BioSource’s polymer (Nano)composites.”
Dr. Xiuquan (Xander) Wang , Associate Professor, Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation & School of Climate Change and Adaptation, University of Prince Edward Island, PEI, Canada, presented research focused on regional climate modelling, climate downscaling, hydrological modelling and flooding risk analysis, energy systems modelling under climate change, climate change impact assessment and adaptation studies, GIS, Spacial modelling and analysis.

Debarshi Nath, PhD Student, School of Engineering, University of Guelph presented “Development and Characterization of Sustainable poly (Butylene Succinate-co-adipate)/Talc Based Composite films by Blown Film Extrusion.
Singan Suranjoy Singh, PhD student, Department of Food Science, University of Guelph presented his work “Development of Hydrophobic Paper-sheet for Potential Food Packaging Applications.
