Malik is a PhD student in the School of Engineering at the University of Guelph's Bioproducts Discovery and Development Centre (BDDC), supervised by Prof. Dr. Amar K Mohanty. His research work is based on utilization of agricultural waste to create high-value 3D-printing materials.

His research interests include 3D printing, polymers characterization and finite element analysis.  Prior to joining the BDDC, he has worked as a lecturer at the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, Pakistan and the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences Islamabad, Pakistan.
