Patricia Feijoo Dominguez

Patricia Feijoo Domínguez is a fourth-year Ph.D. student in the Polymers and Advanced Materials Research Group at Universitat Jaume I (Castelló, Spain). Her thesis focuses on the study of the biodegradability of polymeric materials and composites in composting and marine environments, both natural and lab-simulated. Currently, she is performing a 5-month international stay at the Bioproducts Discovery and Development Center (BDDC) of the University of Guelph, developing a biocomposite based on biopolyesters and agave fiber for injection applications in order to replace conventional plastics.

Patricia graduated in Chemistry (2013) from the Universidad Complutense of Madrid, after which she specialized in Food Technology, Control and Safety (2015) with a Master's Degree. She worked for 1 year in the food industry in the Quality Department before starting her research in food packaging. She conducted a Master’s Degree in Novel Foods (2017) at Universidad Autónoma of Madrid and, in 2018, she began her doctorate studies at the Universitat Jaume I while working on the European project YPACK, in which a fully biodegradable multilayer food container was developed. Contemporaneously, she participates in the BIOMASKS project in which she is in charge of studying the biodegradability of viricidal masks against COVID-19. In addition, she collaborates with the development of the Center for Studies on the Biodegradability of Materials (CEBIMAT), a spin-off of the Universitat Jaume I led by her thesis advisors, Luis Cabedo and José Gámez.
